Competitive Drama consists of two events: Contest Play and Group Interpretation. Tryouts for the play occur in December and for Group Interpretation shortly thereafter. After approximately two months of rehearsal, the play and Group Interpretation travel to Conference competition. For two consecutive weekends in March, the two travel to Sectional and State Competition with the Illinois High School Association (IHSA). The Contest Play and Group Interpretation must rank in the top three in IHSA Sectional Competition to go on to the IHSA State Competition.
